Our Health Ministries Committee knows that the body is the temple of God and encourages mental and physical health and well-being. From sponsoring special speakers to screening events, the Health Ministries at St. Andrew is alive and well. Here are some of the committee’s on-going efforts:
The Hilton Head Health Ministry Committee has a mission called LOAVES OF LOVE that we would like to make available to those in need. We can provide a meal for those members who are recovering from a hospital stay. In Bluffton, the ministry is called All in the Family. If you or other members of our church family have this need, please call the church office at 785-4711.
Alzheimer and Dementia Caregiver Support Group:
St. Andrew offers a community support group with a focus on the issues involved with the role of a primary caregiver for a loved one who has a diagnosis of Alzheimer or dementia. The meetings take place in the Celebration Center of St. Andrew By-The-Sea at 20 Pope Aveunue on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m., and is facilitated by social worker Karen Kirby. The meetings are open and there is no need to call ahead.
Twice per year, the Health Ministries Committee sponsors a Blood Drive. Watch for announcements of the date of the next drive.
Blood Pressure Checks:
Twice per month, volunteers who were former health care professionals are in the Celebration Center during the 10:00 hour to check your BP.
