Ministers… all the people of the church!
Neil M. Yongue Jr.
Neil Yongue was born in 1954 in Big Spring, TX, while his father was serving in the Air Force. In 1957, the family relocated to Surfside Beach, SC, where they lived until 1970 when Neil’s father took a position in Charleston. While Neil was in high school, he attended church at Charleston’s Midland Park UMC. Former St. Andrew Pastor Doug Bowling was his minister and Marlene Bowling was one of his Sunday School teachers. It was at Midland Park that he also met Imogene, noticing her while the two were participating in a choir. Neil attended the College of Charleston and graduated from the University of South Carolina (now Coastal Carolina). He received his divinity degree at Lutheran Southern Theological Seminary in Columbia in 1985. His previous appointments include Folly Beach UMC near Charleston, Union Grove UMC near Anderson, Cokesbury & Hodges outside of Greenwood, Edgefield UMC, Trinity UMC in Blythewood, and at St. Paul UMC in Spartanburg.
Neil brings many gifts to St. Andrew and invites anyone interested in getting to know him and more about St. Andrew to visit with him after worship services in his office in the Administrative Building, or call and set up a time to get together. He would welcome it!
