The Maryland State Boy Choir will be touring in our area in February and will be joining us in worship at our Hilton Head campus for the 11:15 am service on February 17, and then presenting a free concert to the public at 3:00pm that afternoon in the sanctuary.
As Maryland’s official “Goodwill Ambassadors,” the established program consists of 150 boys with multiple ensembles that tour three to five times a year. Coming up on their 31st anniversary, the Maryland State Boy Choir has had many successes including touring through 40 states and 15 countries, performing at the National Conference for the American Choral Directors Association and with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in their performance and recording of Bernstein’s “Kaddish” among many other honors.
The 25-voice Young Men’s Chorus will present a diverse program ranging from Renaissance motets and standard church anthems to gospel songs, spirituals, and world music. I’m sure you’ll want to make a special effort to hear them while they are here in the Lowcountry.
